Selected Work
Anna Genger's work continually crosses the boundaries of genres. Coming from gestural and subjective painting, she also works with the medium sculpture and performance. The works are consistent in their non-narrative approach and the use of a subjective psycho-sexual iconography, which draws loose connections with surrealist works.
Genger works across all media consistently address female identity in the context of contemporary gender politics.
The subject matter stems from herself as a gendered subject and carries over into Genger's paitnings, drawings, embroidered and collage wall pieces as well as wearable and object sculpure.
Anna Genger, lives and works in Berlin after residencies in London, Berlin and New York. Exhibitions include solo shows at Galerie Biesenbach, Cologne and Galerie Bastian, Berlin,The Agency, London and Galerie Erik Steen, Oslo.
